Meaning of Shiva Panchakshara Stotram: I offer my humble salutations to Lord Mahesvara - who has a garland of serpents around the neck; who has three eyes; whose body is covered with ash (vibhuti); who is eternal; who is pure; who has the entire sky as His dress and who is embodies as the first letter Na. He immediately started singing twenty one slokas praising Goddess Mahalakshmi , praying her to bless the poor women by driving her poverty and grant her riches.

Upon hearing this Goddess Lakshmi was greatly moved and immensely pleased with the advocacy of the argument of Sri Shankaracharya and showered instantly, a golden rain of Amla fruits. The Goddess was so pleased that She instantly showered a rain of goose- berry fruits made of pure gold in the house of the poor Brahman lady. It is called Kanakadhara because when Adi Sankara recited it, the Goddess Lakshmi created a shower of golden fruit.
